Os deslocamentos entre as ilhas-mundo flutuantes e suas implicações na série literária A Passa-Espelhos, de Christelle Dabos

Abstract

This study focuses on the tetralogy La Passe-Miroir (2018–2021) by Christelle Dabos, with particular attentionto the journey of the protagonist, Ophélie. The research aimsto analyze how the spatial displace ments experienced by the character provoke the sense of estrangement necessary for the construction of possible worlds with in the fiction AL universe, in this case, base dont helands capes. A qualitative approach is a dop ted, based on content analysis and grounded in theor etical frame works from humanistic geography and literary studies, especially the concepts of symbolic landscape, mobility, travel, and the construction of narrative space. Notably, in order to different at between gif tsand powers in fantasy literature—particularly as they are portrayed in the series — this study proposes a new concept: Heigh tened Sensory Abilities, developed through Foucault’s (1975) notion of power and diverse perspectives on the interaction between power, gift, magic, and affecttheory. As a methodological foundation, the study employs thety pology of geographic mobilities proposed by Balbim (2016), in conjunction with reflections by authorssuch as Yi-Fu Tuan (1983) and Cosgrove (1987) on the relationship between space, emotion, and perception. The analysis revealed that Ophélie’s movements noton lyre shape her perception of sur round inglands capes, butal so establish a constant process of estrangement that enables the question in gof the social and symbolics tructures that compose the fictional worlds. It is concluded that the character’s mobility is a central element in expanding the narrative universe and in constructing alternative realities thats timulate there ader’s imagination and criticalengagement.
