O Aeroporto Regional da zona da mata mineira e suas relações com as condições de infraestrutura rodoviária

Abstract

This monograph examines the integration between airport infrastructure and terrestrial connectivity in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, using the Regional Airport of Zona da Mata, located in Goianá, as a case study. Grounded in a theoretical framework that articulates regional development, territorial logistics, and multi-level governance, the study investigates how regional airports can function as drivers of economic dynamism, productive flows, and intermunicipal coordination. The research draws on national and international literature on aerotropolises, modal integration, local governance, road infrastructure, and transport public policies, demonstrating that the scale of airports services is closely tied to the quality of land access and the coordination among governmental actors. The methodology combines a qualitative approach with complementary quantitative techniques, including documentary analysis, assessment of the regional road network, and evaluation of the perceptions of public managers, community leaders, and users. The findings indicate that the airport holds significant strategic potential for regional development but faces structural constraints related to limited terrestrial accessibility, institutional fragmentation, and the absence of integrated planning. The categorical synthesis highlights the need to strengthen intermunicipal governance, improve road infrastructure, and expand regional aviation policies in order to consolidate the airport as an agent of economic and territorial development.
