Endocrowns em dentes anteriores: revisão da literatura

Abstract

Rehabilitation of anterior teeth is a challenge in dentistry due to the aesthetic and functional importance. Endocrowns, although promising, require further studies due to their biomechanical behavior. The aim of this literature review was to investigate the possibility of restoring endodontically treated anterior teeth with extensive coronal destruction using endocrown restorations, through a review of the scientific literature. Searches were conducted in the Lilacs, Scielo, and PubMed databases from 2011 to 2024, where 20 articles were found, 19 of which were selected after excluding 1 duplicate. The following keywords were used for the search strategy: 'endocrown', 'anterior teeth', and 'tooth nonvital'. The results show that endocrowns are potentially effective for anterior teeth, offering good stress distribution and preservation of dental structure. However, material selection and treatment individualization are essential. Biomechanical and clinical studies indicate that endocrowns are becoming an increasingly used option for the rehabilitation of these teeth, with satisfactory performance and encouraging results. Further long-term research is necessary to fully understand the clinical performance of endocrowns and guide their application.
